Presented by: Chris Crothers, Jessie Ball duPont

About Our Speaker:

Chris Crothers joined the Jessie Ball duPont Fund in 2013 and is a senior program officer responsible for managing grant relationships throughout northeastern United States. In addition to grant responsibilities, he leads efforts to achieve positive impact through the Fund’s investment portfolio. Crothers oversees program-related investment activities ($11 million deployed in low-interest loans in Florida, Virginia, and Delaware) as well as works with the external investment advisor to develop and monitor the Fund’s mission-related investment portfolio ($90 million in screened investments).

Crothers developed the Fund’s evaluative learning process, working closely with the program team to guide grant assessment. He is completing a certification for Housing Development Finance Professional and advises staff on housing, building reuse, and general community development activities.

Crothers is currently a Change Leaders in Philanthropy fellow with Grantmakers for Effective Organizations. He was also selected for the Council on Foundations’ Career Pathways program and as a Southeastern Council of Foundations Hull Fellow. Before joining the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, Crothers served as Communications Director for nine years at the Foundation for the Mid South in Jackson, Mississippi. He received a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University in Management Information Systems. He currently serves on the boards of the Delaware Grantmakers Association and the Orange Park Chorale. Crothers is a husband, father of two, avid music collector, drummer, foodie, and recovering entrepreneur.

The Planned Giving Council of Northeast Florida brings together nonprofit and for-profit professionals merging their expertise in estate and tax planning, financial planning and charitable giving to foster awareness and to provide an effective forum for education, communication, networking and collaboration for our gift planning community.
